Tlahuelpuchi / Sahumador Luminoso
This project deals with searching for the pre-Hispanic roots of our Latin American culture . Working with recovered indigenous techniques, created six large-scale ceramic incense burners. These vessels, in ancient times, were used for ritualistic purification and consecration of ancient deities. In this project, they are used for offerings, a ritualistic homage to the great recurring wildlife and symbols in my work: skulls, duck, jaguar, dog, lizard, and fish. Cla was collected from the mud in the coast of the black river that runs along Villa Soriano in Uruguay. Wood and fire merged, each element fulfilling its role. Support for this project came from Residence Vatelon, and included collaboration with other resident artists.

El proyecto habla sobre una búsqueda de las raÃces prehispánicas en nuestra cultura latinoamericana. Se trabajó, mediante la recuperación de técnicas indÃgenas , la creación de 6 sahumadores en cerámica. Vasijas que en tiempos antiguos, se ocupaban para rituales de purificación, y consagración de deidades ancestrales. Fueron útiles hoy, para el proceso de elaboración de la ofrenda. Un homenaje ritual, a la recurrente fauna fantástica presente en mi obra: calaveras, pato, jaguar, perro, lagartija y pez. Todos van conformando este mundo imaginario que avanza hacia al desarrollo y crecimiento.El barro fue recogido de la costa del rÃo negro, a orillas de Villa Soriano en Uruguay. La madera y el fuego se fusionaron, cada elemento cumplió con su rol. Residencia Vatelon nos brindo todo lo necesario. Sumado a la experiencia de compartir el trabajo con otros artistas, hizo de todo esto algo único.
